Me Time- Because You matter!
Being healthy is such an important part of every individual's life.
But the question is, Are we really concerned about it?? Maybe, We are. But people have become so busy that they hardly can manage time for themselves. They forgot what Self-love is!
What is Self-love? -Taking some time off from your daily life, just sitting alone & wandering. Thoughts come & go like the clouds and we just sit still with our eyes open or close thinking about nothing. Absolutely numb. Letting the emotions flow out- be it any kind of emotion. Anger, Guilt, Happiness, Jealousy, Sadness, Hatred, Love.
Just let it flow out! When you are with you, you are showing love towards yourself.
So much hustle and chaos can be seen today. People are always in a hurry, always busy; Or people are so idle that they reach the same state of mind ending up stressed and frustrated. Life in itself has turned into a battle whether you are doing something or not. Everyone is facing some kind of pressure from society. If only there was no society, no obligations towards anyone at all? Ahh!! I can feel a thin rush of relief just by typing this!😇
Can we not give a little bit of that plenty of hours we have got, to ourselves?!! It may sound difficult, but trust me it isn't. Once you start making time for yourself, I bet it'll start luring you to have more & more. That's not simply said. It has been my personal experience & of many other known people on my list.
Why not just give a try with these simple ways to make time for yourself:
1.Long Shower Time: Lock up your room and turn on the music(any genre that suits your mood at that moment) loud enough to reach your brain. Go to the Bathroom completely naked, turn on the shower with cold water, and stand beneath it. Enjoy the cold shower for as long as you can & enjoy the music!
(Though I recommend cold water, you can set the temperature according to your requirement)
2. Take a walk alone as far and as long as you can: Here I'm not talking about walking the journey of your life to walk alone!😀 Just a walk by the roadside, or park, your lawn, the marketplace, garden; anywhere. All alone for at least 40-60mins. Feel the air!
3. Sit in your window or balcony and just stare at the view outside: It's not important if you have a bad view or a beautiful view. You can definitely find a place in your home where you can sit idle and spend some quality time alone looking outside. A terrace, balcony, by the window, verandah, lawn, own garden. Too many options, I see! And my view, You see-
4. Plugin your earphones: Well you must be already a pro at it. Music heals in a much much better way, Isn't it! Well, suggest me some relaxing Indian music too. I would love to upgrade my library based on your suggestions.
5. Cook something for yourself: And maybe for your special ones too if you want to(that adds an extra level of satisfaction to your soul).😊 Cooking is seriously not that a big task to do. It's an art. I myself have been cooking from the age of 10, only! It has become a hobby now. But, cooking in itself refreshes your mind to a great extent after all you are going to feed your cravings with exactly the same which you want by preparing it yourself! Go ahead and give it a try if you have still not tried your hand in it. Make others at your home cook too.😉 A sneak into what I along with my husband cooked during lockdown-
6. Go get a pet: Those who of you guys already have one please share a picture of them. I'm planning to get a pet soon, so suggestions are welcome.
Pets fill that empty space in your life by loving you unconditionally! And yes, those who say that pets make a hole in your pocket or you need a caretaker to clean their mess, are absolutely wrong. Get one without a second thought, unless you are allergic to pets and you would have actually hired a permanent therapist for you!
7. Run: It's not really necessary to make running a daily routine. In fact, you get double benefits out of it. It keeps you physically fit & all the frustration that you have build up over time is released with the jumping & jerking & heavy breathing.
Feel the difference yourself after you come back home tired, but mentally refreshed.
8. Indulge yourself into some form of Art: You ask me what and I provide you with an endless list of things you can do to give yourself some time. To start with are- Gardening- Again the small things which you don't need to take classes of. Bring plants to your home, plant new ones, take care of them. That's it.
Painting- Who said painting is for artists only. Even if you are very bad at it, buy some paint(watercolors are great for a start) & 3-4 different sized brushes. You don't necessarily need a canvas for it. Any plain paper will serve the purpose.
Just play with colors on the paper. Don't worry, you need not share pictures of it with me.😁 No one is going to judge you! Even I'm very bad at it. But still, I gave it a try and experienced a true bliss by spending a couple of hours into it. It boosts up your mental energy! Those already self-made artists, Kudos to you!!
Craft- Upcycle the unwanted clutter at your home, or involve yourself in some home decor of your own house. Do some paper quilling, make a bird feeder, and hang outside your house. There are a lot of options. Pinterest is the best go-to place for easy peasy ideas. Below is a part of my tiny garden-
9. Read Books: It is said that- When you read a book you live a thousand lives. Pick a book from the bookstore today itself if you haven't started with any of it yet or didn't show much interest in it. And it's great if you can manage even 5-10 mins a day to read. All I'm asking you is to start somewhere. Gradually, the interest builds up on its own and without you realizing, you develop a reading habit. I have personally suggested this to my dear ones and they are nailing it. There are bookworms in my house who have created the desire to read books in me too. Sharing a picture of the result below:
Apart from helping in the growth of your mind, books reduce stress and you sleep peacefully. Having books around you creates a positive surrounding as well.
10. Start blogging: It might seem too boring at the beginning. You might even feel lazy to sit and just type. But it's not a regular task to do. Just start & check if it really interests you. If not, don't push a burden upon yourself. Go play board games. 😄
Now, that you have got some real easy & interesting ideas what are you waiting for?!! Pick one and bring out that hidden character inside you.
IMPORTANT: Please keep your mobile phone away until and unless it's very urgent. These gadgets only do the opposite.
